The lights, the music, the hot chocolate...this is when everything feels so magical. Well, that is until you realize you have finals until December 22nd and then you're flying across country to see your family on the 23rd leaving you with essentially NO time for holiday shopping. It's the most wonderful time of the year indeed!

To make your life a little more joyous this year I've created the ultimate holiday guide geared towards the person in medicine keeping in mind 3 different budgets. The gifts I've selected I personally own and love or need and want (duh). You can use this holiday gift guide in two ways [1] use it to inspire your holiday shopping when looking to buy things that are practical and useful for someone you know and [2] use it as your own holiday wish list to make it easier on everyone else to shop for you!

So here is a little more info about all the things you didn't know you needed until now:

[ Under 50 ]

Women in Medicine T-shirt: Ok so EVERY woman who is in, pursuing or even remotely interested in medicine NEEDS this shirt. It's only $29!!!! Best part? Some of the proceeds benefits the Roshni Academy, a non-profit that empowers women in need. It's really a win win!

L'Occitane Mini Hand Cremes: Whenever I am in the hospital I pretty much wash my hands 24879 times a day. By the end of the day my hands are itchy, dry and just awful. I put a hand creme everywhere I can sneak it including white coat, scrub pockets, purses, kitchen drawer...literally everywhere. I am a big fan of L'Occitane and these mini hand cremes are perfect. They also make great stocking-stuffers if you break it apart.

Mega Planner: If you're like me, you LOVE writing things down. It keeps you organized AND when you check off a task it makes you feel accomplished. This cute little planner makes a perfect affordable gift for the busy person.

[ Under 100 ]

Faux Fur Robe (On sale for $99): This is probably the best thing that ever happened to me. Seriously. One of my best friends gifted this to me a few months ago and I have lived in it ever since. It's SO soft, SO warm and SO SO cozy. It's the perfect study buddy. And you can personalize it for under $10 making it even more special!

Rouge Louboutin Nail Colour: Alright, I have to admit this isn't the most practical gift BUT it's a designer product under $100 that is perfect for the woman in medicine who loves high fashion. And the packaging is adorable!

Birchwood Pine Candle and Diffuser: During high pressure times like exam week, the best thing you can do is light a candle to turn your otherwise stressful atmosphere into a relaxing one. This really helps calm nerves and set you up for effective studying.

L'Occitane Divine Youth Oil: When you're running on 4 hours of sleep and you have a 100 things to do the next day, you really don't have time for skincare even though you're dehydrated, tired and certainly need it. Don't let your beauty routine be a burden, keep it simple and use products with good ingredients. One of my favorite things to do when I am way too tired for a full night time treatment is to just put this oil all over my face and sleep! I still wake up with moisturized skin and I feel better knowing I am using anti-aging treatment daily to minimize aging. This is a bit expensive and may be out of a student's budget making it a great gift (because Lord knows it's needed).

[ Under $200 ]

Tory Burch Ella Tote: This carried me through 4 years of dental school. Literally. It is weather proof, durable and holds SO much stuff. I used it almost daily for my laptop, wallet, water bottle, books, etc. It was also thrown on the floor and dragged around all over but still held it's shape. It also makes the perfect sized travel bag. This is really a good buy for someone in school and needs a large low maintenance tote.

LUNA Facial Cleansing Device: When you're wearing your make up all day in the hospital and working under AC you really need to make sure you are cleansing your skin well at the end of the night. This small little thing does magic!! It's like a mini facial every night. Follow up with your favorite moisturizer.

BOSE Headphones: Classroom studying is almost extinct! At NYU, even though my class was around 350 students, we only had a loyal 10-15 students show up to lectures. Wait what? Yes. All lectures are podcasted and available to watch at the comfort of your own home. So why bother coming to class? Most people don't. Having said that, a good pair of headphones become crucial. Let's also not forget about Netflix binding. Very very important. This is a gift that will be used and abused, I guarantee it.
